Ok after that barrage of nonsense...Down to blogging proper. Wednesday :Was jolted awake at 9am by dad charging into my room and yelling "overseas call! pick up!" Turns out the med admissions officer from uni of new south wales wanted to bring forward my telephone interview (supposed to be next wed) to noon today. I mumbled an acceptance, being too sleepy to think clearly (still lying in bed with the comforter on, etc) Finally decided to wake up and do some research on unsw, having no inkling on what it was about except that it was in sydney and organised english proficiency tests every year. At 11.55am, a Dr. J_ called and the interview lasted 35 mins (*phew*) and he quizzed me on everything under the sun starting with "where you were born" and also weird questions like "who's your closest family member and what do you think he thinks of you? " (kor. fun-loving and hardworking (?)) followed by "what do you think of yourself?" (pretty much the same, hawhaw...) also "what makes your closest friends your closest friends?" (buddies since sec school, study, eat, shit, sleep together, etc.ok, i didn't really say that ) and "where do you feel you stand among your peers?" (.....I'm not gonna tell you what I said for this one) But the Interview Question of the Day has to be... "who was the worst teacher you ever had and why?" (the itch with a capital B of course! Hey, how often do you get to rant and rave about your least favourite teacher? And to a total stranger who has to at least *pretend* to be interested???? ^_^) That had to be the longest (and weirdest) interview ever...But still, aren't telephone interviews the best???I mean, there I was, with my legs up on the computer table, wearing singlet and shorts and cradling a portable phone. Hell, I could have been surfing the net or scratching my ass and he wouldn't have known...Perhaps they don't wanna be prejudiced by appearances. Or they wanna tape it down and send it to psychologists for analysis ("Note that pregnant pause after that particular question...") Either way, it was pretty fun. Had to make up a few tall tales along the way ("have you ever provided medical care for anybody?" "uhhh...my sister sprained her ankle once and I had to bring her food to her" yeah right) but other than that, I *think* I did ok... Dad says the whole family might be going for a holiday-interview-uni-and-kor-visiting-trip to liverpool/cork/london at the end of this month, gotta wait for uni of liverpool to set a date for the interview first before confirming this...Heh, legoland and windsor castle, anyone? =) Oh yes dad and I went to the irish embassy today, but all the irish haf gone back to ireland cos of sars (no kidding) so we din get much info there, plus i had another enjoyable, non-tiring night tennis lesson. Yup that's all for today. Phew.
