Definitely the manliest song I’ve ever heard. Even F_ agrees with me :)
Sixteen Tons (Frankie Laine)
Some people say a man is made out of mud
A poor man’s made out of muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that’s weak and a back that’s strong.
*You load sixteen tons and what do you get?
Another day older, deeper in debt
Saint Peter don’t you call me cos I can’t go
I owe my soul to the company store
I was born one morning when the sun didn’t shine
I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said, “ Well bless my soul”
*
I was born one morning it was drizzling rain
Fightin and trouble are my middle name
I was raised in a cane-brake by an ole mamma lion
Can’t no high tones woman make me walk the line
*
If you see me comin better step aside
A lotta men didn’t
A lotta men died
One fist of iron
The other of steel
If the right one don’t get you
Then the left one will
*
Oh incidentally I’m loading my dad’s greatest oldies collection onto my pod. Also went to raid clem’s room (heh hope he’s not reading this) and stole his chicago, carpenters and America cds for some quick ripping. Taking advantage of my brother’s temporary absence to use the his laptop. Heh. So glad CAs are over. F_ and I finally resumed our jock-y activities today. Oh and the food was so scrumptious. Chocolate truffle cake, mee goreng at adam road and yami yoghurt at suntec! Really burnt loads of oil today (petrol and fat, thankfully no longer midnight oil). Mmmm feel so nice and relaxed now…Just sitting back and blogging and listening to oldies on the cd and waiting for my cds to finish burning. Ah, this is the life. And you know what’s the best part of it? My dad and younger bro are coming back in approx 7 hours… :) :) :)
